Dealing with Impostor Syndrome: How to help if you don’t feel good enough.
Did you know?
The hardest part of reaching your goal is getting started. That means that most people with a dream to overhaul their money story and work towards the life they want NEVER GET STARTED. When it comes to making a change, the average person feels like they are not good enough. I know because I’ve been through it. When I first got started in overhauling my own money story through real estate investing, my self-talk would leave me feeling physically unable to take that first step:
- “I feel like a fraud ‒ there are so many people better than me!”
- “I am not an expert yet ‒ I need to go back to school for four years.”
- “Who would pay me when there are so many more experienced people out there?”
All this of course is complete baloney. It’s called impostor syndrome, or the impostor complex. Symptoms include feeling like a fraud and not feeling good enough. This manifests as negative self-talk that leaves you stuck in the mud. If you don’t address this, it can seriously harm your ability to be confident. But the truth is, there will never be a perfect time. Even the biggest authorities on a subject can learn more, and still make mistakes. That means impostor syndrome is just a trick your mind plays on you. It just holds you back and stops many people from ever chasing their dreams.
