Before real estate, I spent about 10 years in banking and mortgages. I worked my way up the corporate ladder at two Central Florida credit unions to Assistant Vice President – Branch Manager, all while I opened and managed more than 7 banking locations.

On paper, I did everything right. I got the degrees, the job with a good company, and the promotions. But I was working from 6 am to 8 pm, 6 days a week. I had no time at home for my family. I was a single mother of two amazing children, and they were learning to take care of themselves because I was never home.

I wanted control over what I earned, and I wanted my time back. So I took a hard look at my money story: what I believed about money, what I was afraid of, and why I wanted more of it. That changed how I made decisions, and it’s still part of how I coach today.

I wrote about my money story and my faith in my book, You Can Love God and Drive a Bentley!: A Prosperity Guide Straight From The Bible, published in 2019.

I bought my first property in 2006 in Kissimmee, Florida, while I was working in mortgages.

For a while I invested on my own, and made many mistakes. In 2013, I used my entire Army officer bonus to pay for a real estate mentor program. With guidance, things moved fast. That’s why I believe in coaching, and it’s why I built a coaching program of my own.

Tax liens got my attention when I learned that every state has a law that sets the interest on unpaid property taxes. Those rates were higher than anything my bank paid on savings, and a tax lien is secured by real estate. In 2016, I left banking to invest and coach full-time. In May 2018, I launched Tax Deed Genius.

I’ve served almost 18 years in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve, most of it as an Engineer Officer. I built my banking career and my business while I served. Keep Your Career. Build Your Real Estate Portfolio.™ is how I lived long before I taught it.

A few things I’m proud of:

• Leading more than 80 soldiers through an 8-month disaster response in Puerto Rico after Hurricanes Irma and Maria
• Managing 8,663 beds and 350 buildings at Fort Bliss, Texas
• Writing the 5-year base camp master plan for Camp Arifjan, Kuwait
• 2 Meritorious Service Medals and 2 Army Commendation Medals
